Brrrr, baby it's cold outside. And it's weather like today's that I covet an open fire. Choosing a fireplace is a pretty massive decision. It not only needs to function well - ie. serve its purpose of heating a space - but it also needs to look mighty fine. They're not cheap so it could end up being a pretty expensive mistake if not done properly. The choices are endless so think about shape, colour, traditional form or modern, wall-fixed, ceiling suspended, tiled, rendered, stone clad, painted ... There's a lot to consider. And I know the gas ones are hot right now, but I'll take an open wood-burning fire any day.
